As the summer progressed, the end the season meant that Suttle Lake Camp would be losing one of its critical and vital staff members, Food Service Director, Chef Abel Salas.
Abel has been on staff since the summer of 2014, and as anyone who has visited Suttle Lake in the time can attest, Abel made an immediate impact with his commitment to kitchen staff camaraderie, farm-to-table sourcing, and expertly fusing his Peruvian culture with the needs/expectations of campers and guests.
Abel has moved to Auburn, Indiana to be reunited with spouse and Kentucky-native Anna Eckelbarger Salas and their 14 month-old daughter, Genevieve. Anna, a Deacon in the United Methodist Church, left in June to begin her new appointment as Director of Family Engagement at Auburn First UMC. We are sad to see all three of them leave, but we wish them well in their journeys, wherever God accompanies them.
