  Develop Happiness through Gratitude

 Value 6: Gratitude

By Peggy Lovegren, Director at Wallowa Lake Camp

Why do United Methodist Camps think teaching “gratitude” is so important?

Because psychological research finds that being grateful, having gratitude, is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness!

So how does Wallowa Lake Camp model and express gratitude?

By starting meals with a grace!
By writing up “thoughts for the day” of appreciation and thankfulness.
By being good stewards of this camp.
By appreciating our staff; both paid and volunteers and donors.
By caring for creation.
By naming buildings after donors.
By praising God in everything we do!

So get started being grateful!  Write down three things you are grateful for, every day.  Pretty soon it will become a habit and you’ll be on your way to greater happiness!
