What do the Oregon-Idaho United Methodist and Ecumenical Camps offer for our kids?

Quality Christian education and spiritual growth guided by trained adults

  • Extensive training for all our counselors and deans is mandated by our camp policies.
  • Most of our Summer camps use a nationally recognized curriculum to guide campers as they learn new skills for following Jesus in their daily lives.
  • Nearly all of our children and youth events include an ordained clergyperson on the staff.

Age-level appropriate activities

  • Crafts, hikes, water sports, Bible study—all camp activities are designed for the developmental needs of a specific age group.
  • Watch for the description and ages for each camp event listed in this catalog, which are meant to help guide parents as you choose the most appropriate camp experience for your child. For example, you know best whether your 12-year-old 6th grader will be more comfortable in a middle school or older elementary camp setting, so the choice is yours.

Healthy meals prepared by professional food service staff

  • Note that campers at off-site or outpost camps fix some of their own meals in an experience designed to teach outdoor cooking skills as well as teamwork and cooperative problem solving.
  • Special dietary needs can usually be accommodated with advance notice.

Red Cross-trained or professional health care provider at each campsite

  • Each campsite and program is required by camp policy to conform to risk management standards.
  • Most of our children/youth programs are accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA), whose health and safety requirements are considered nationwide to be the industry standard for excellence.

Bottom Line: What is your child likely to bring back from camp?

  • Greater awareness of God's love
  • Increased self-esteem
  • New skills
  • Lots of great memories
  • Addresses of new friends to keep in touch with
  • Self-confidence
  • Deepened faith
  • A pile of dirty clothes
