Benson Named Collins Director

March 27, 2017

The Board of Camp and Retreat Ministries is pleased to announce that the Reverend Dan Benson has been selected to become the director of the Alton L. Collins Retreat Center. On Sunday March 26, Bishop Elaine Stanovsky announced the appointment of the Reverend Dan Benson to be Director of the Alton L. Collins Retreat Center effective May 15, 2017.

Dan is an elder in the Oregon-Idaho Conference and has been a pastor of United Methodist Churches in Madras, Banks, John Day, Prairie City and Maple Park, IL. During his time in Oregon he has provided leadership in our Camp and Retreat Ministry serving on the Program Division and volunteering at camps as chaplain, counselor and dean over the past 10 years.

Dan brings a joy for the outdoors and a passion for creating space where people can connect with God, and he is looking forward to sharing this passion with the staff and guests at the Alton L. Collins Retreat Center.

Dan will be joined by his wife, Karen and their three boys, Nathan, Jeremy and Peter in residence at the retreat center.  They are all excited to live out their life-long dreams of living at one of our Camp and Retreat centers.

Dan shares, “Alton L. Collins has a very dear place in my heart, and I am honored to continue the tradition of offering gracious hospitality to guests from around the corner and around the globe.”
