This leadership training (to be held at Suttle Lake Camp) is for all staff who will be serving at Camp Magruder, Suttle Lake or Latgawa this summer.  This joint training event has unique tracks for counselors, deans, and chaplains.  Whether you are an experienced camp leader or just getting started this is the training for you and should not be missed.  If you are unable to make this training, please contact the site where you will be serving so that these important topics can be covered well in advance of camp.

Please note that campers under the age of 18 are allowed to drive to camp only with the written permission of parents and are not allowed to have any passengers under the age of 18.

Counselors will enjoy an engaging track designed to help them prepare for cabin life and working with campers.  Skill sessions will include establishing a community of respect, knowing camp rules, camp worship and prayer, how to get campers excited and how to settle them down, listening, working with small groups, seizing faith moments through the day, and more.

Deans will take a close look at this year's curriculum "Fearless In Faith", working with the camp schedule, best practices in working with staff and campers, and integrating faith experiences throughout the day to support the camp's mission.

Chaplains will dig into the "Fearless In Faith" curriculum, as well as share best practices for developing camp worship experiences and faith formation opportunities that help campers learn and develop as leaders.  Chaplains will learn more about their unique role in engaging campers in faith moments throughout the camp day and how to follow up after camp to encourage next steps.

Deans and Chaplains will also have time to work with one another around schedule, worship, and curriculum to begin to prepare for time at camp.

All leaders will share large group sessions to better understand the mission of Camp & Retreat Ministries, as well as how to prepare for success at camp while being ready for the unexpected.  Together we will also learn about everyone's roles in keeping camp safe and how to practice Safe Sanctuaries and Child Protection Policies in the camp setting.
