Curriculum for the 2008 season:
2008: Under God's Roof!
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
—Psalm 127:1
For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.
—Hebrews 3:4
The mission of Christ’s church is to bear the message of God’s love to the world, inviting all who are strangers to become part of God’s family. As members of God’s household, with Christ as the cornerstone, we “are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God” (Ephesians 2:22).
The metaphor of building a house runs through the Bible passages that anchor the “Under God’s Roof” curriculum. (See: the Week at a Glance)
The “household of God” is “the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15). Just as a house may be either a structure or the people who dwell within that structure, the church is not simply a building , but a community of persons constructed by God, the master architect of all things (Hebrews 11:10).
